Paddywax Celebrates Ten Years

February 23, 2006, ATLANTA, GA – Paddywax, the vibrant favorite for fragrant candles, is turning ten!

Ten years ago Gretchen Hollingsworth, owner and creator of Paddywax, began making candles in her kitchen to give as gifts for family and friends.  This hobby-turned-career grew when she met her husband, David Duncan, who brought enthusiasm and good business sense to the partnership.  Shortly after, Paddywax was born and became an instant hit.  The company now runs their artisan candle operation out of a chic Decatur, GA warehouse, where attention to detail is the forefront of the process.  Each candle is still hand-poured, each bow still hand-tied.  Over the years the line, which began with colorful layered candles in imaginative scents, has expanded to include six enticingly aromatic collections that appeal to any and all tastes.  Jolie, their latest whimsical addition, tempts with fragrances such as Fly (mango, mandarin, grapefruit) and Pop (honeysuckle).  Paddywax Luxe Collection for spring boasts five rich florals, hand-poured in an over-sized glass imprinted with an exquisite brocade pattern.

Today Paddywax can be found in such fashion-forward shops as Fred Segal and Anthropologie.  Fans of their delightful candles include Faith Hill, The Olsen Twins and Russell Simmons.  Gretchen and David’s love of life’s joys – family, travel, and food– continue to be their biggest inspirations and help to keep Paddywax fresh, fun and a leader in the industry.
